Used as the primary means of trade and transportation in the 1800’s, these historic replicas lined Kenosha’s harbor in grand fashion and transported visitors to another place and time. Kenosha Days of Discovery was a captivating and exciting maritime festival featuring tours of visiting ships, sailing excursions, food and drink, music, intriguing exhibits, and an array of family friendly entertainment and activities. First held in 2003 and again in 2004, Kenosha Days of Discovery is heralded as one of Kenosha’s most popular events, attracting not only residents from Kenosha and surrounding counties, but also visitors from across the Midwest. The event showcases Kenosha’s breathtaking and revitalized lakefront and raises awareness of our community’s most promising assets. The 2007 Kenosha Days of Discovery was made possible through collaborative efforts between the City of Kenosha and two local, not-for-profit organizations: The Kenosha Days of Discovery Foundation is dedicated to helping Kenosha area youth discover the importance of our environment by providing sail training and awareness programs, and giving students a unique opportunity to learn life skills such as team-building, self-esteem, and leadership while sailing toward new horizons. The Kiwanis Club of Western Kenosha also dedicates its fund raising efforts to provide a better quality of life for our area’s youth, elderly and disadvantage through programs such as Terrific Kids, Babe Ruth Baseball Program, and the Shalom Center.
