The Kiwanis Club Of Western Kenosha does three major fund raisers each year. The funds raised are used to help local charities including the Shalom Center, Terrific Kids and The Boys and Girls Club.  This year Western Kiwanis will host 6 tournaments 13u to 18U.   So come on out and support our teams and watch some of the most amazing baseball right here in our own home town.  Nash Park is the place to be these weekeds, first games begin at noon on Fridays.

Western Kiwanis is proud to announce the appointment of Mark Stalker as tournament Director for all Western Kiwanis Tournaments for 2010.  Mark is former head baseball coach at Carthage College and Union Grove High School.  He also helped to establish and was general manager for Kenosha Merchant baseball including the 2004 14U World Series Champions and helped to establish the Union Grove 8U-15U Jr. Bronco program.  He was the camp director for the Midwest Baseball Academy in Union Grove from 2007-2009.  Mark brings a knowledge of the game and tournament play to the position of Tournament Director and we are extremely pleased to have him in the batters box.

Star Spangled Banner - Sunday Game Schedule

From Mark Stalker - Tournament Director

OK folks for tomorrow I am  only going to give you your first game time.  After that you will need to follow the brackets we will have up at the Nash Field.  For the most part you are going to be playing one right after another--especially if you lose the first round.  However, we can get this done as long as we keep moving.

The following will give you an idea of what the rest of the tournament will look like:

Hope this gives you an idea--at least it gives you a start time.  All Championships would start around 6:30 pm--the winner of that game will be declared the champion--you will NOT have to beat the undefeated team twice to win the tournament.  I have not secured another local field yet--all are pretty wet as you can imagine.  I am still hopeful that I can find one.  If I do we would not start using it until after everyone has pretty much played one game.  So report to Nash Field.  Candy informed me that she is going to change the gate fee to $3 for adults, $2 for students/senior citizens and children 5 and under free.  Again, we will not allow coolers and carry-ins--please let your teams know!!!

The rain stopped about 10 am, but we still do not have the needed sunshine.  It's coming I'm told--but if we don't get any more rain we can get the fields going.  They may be soft for the 7:30 and 9 am games, but by noon they will be perfect.  We will not put teams on unsafe fields.  If we think they are not playable we will make that decision by 10 pm tonight.  If any local teams want to help getting the fields ready please come out to Nash around 2 pm and bring a garden rake if you have one.  If you have an ATV or Gator bring that out also--we have one, but we blew the engine on one of ours.

Thanks,

Mark Stalker

Tournament Director
